Like water for Chocolate

The message behind this film was the magical realism of her food and her love for her brother in-law. I believe that it was very ironic that the mother of the main character had went through the same things as her daughter with not being able to have her lover and being held back, but she did the same exact thing to her daughter. The traditon of back then was very different to the present, the women were mostly the homemaker and marriages were arranged and that was the reason that she couldnt be with the love that she wanted. the characters in the film seemed to have a core traditional value when it comes to family, cooking and relationships. I learned a great deal about the traditional values of the mexican culture through this film.

  2. Like water for chocoate was an intriguing story. It contained many ecamples of Magical realism. She seemed to be able to pass along her emotions, through her cooking, tn through the cookbook to her future family members.
